1. The system will check each account when the system comes
up to see if it has been deleted or needs to be purged due to inactivity
(configurable number of days – see options 920-921). You can press
the Cancel button that will appear in the window if you do not want to wait for
the process to complete.
Note: New subscriber account #s
are assigned by either determining the lowest unused account #s (this list is
calculated during the "checking account" phase), or by assigning the
next account # in order. If you cancel the "checking" process
and the system runs out of re-usable accounts, the next highest account will be
used. Although not a problem, this will cause your account #'s to grow at
a faster rate than they might normally.
2. SoftTouch uses Microsoft Access
as its database engine. The database is located at "C:\SoftTouch\tables\SoftTouch.mdb".
3. There are several
"hidden" features when calling the system:
System Operators Only:
You can press the "8"
key while in the personal options menu to approve ads. Although the
system will give you an opportunity to approve ads when you logon (if
necessary), you can always use this option to approve ads if already logged in.
Pressing "9" while listening
to an ad to approve will approve the ad. Of course, you can always hit
"7" to delete the ad if you wish.
Pressing "9" while
listening to all ads (standard ad browse mode) will delete the ad. There
may be times when you want to go back and remove a previously approved ad.
No account login necessary:
Entering "0000" at the
logon prompt (where you normally type in your account #), followed by the
reboot or restart sequence will activate one of those features. See the
“System-2” tab in the “configuration Wizard” or modify
options 823-824 in the “Configuration
Screen”. You will be played
a prompt indicating a reboot or restart is underway. In all cases, you
will be disconnected once you enter “0000” as a security
measure. Pick your reboot and restart sequences carefully so they are not easy
to guess.
4. Directories and files used:
SoftTouch will install itself into
the directory C:\SoftTouch
In the root C:\SoftTouch directory will be the following
files:
SoftTouch.exe - the main executable
SoftTouchBackup.exe - custom data backup application
SoftTouchReboot.exe - custom reboot application
softtouch.ico - icon for the application
dlgcatf.dll – dialogic driver file
dlreg.dll – dialogic driver file
libdtimt.dll – dialogic driver file
libdxxmt.dll – dialogic driver file
libsrlmt.dll – dialogic driver file
ndi.dll – dialogic driver file
Under SoftTouch will be several
directories and sub-directories:
C:\SoftTouch\Logs
Numerous "logs" are generated and added to on a
daily basis:
CALLERID.TXT - contains a record of each call received (if
enabled) - this file is a backup to the caller-id table contained within the SoftTouch
database.
ACTIVITY.TXT - keeps a record of each logon, logoff and
signup on the system. For logons and logoffs, the number of credits and/or
days, as well as the billing class are stored. This information can be
useful in cases where members dispute system usage. The caller's sex and
password are also stored during signup.
DUPS.TXT - during signup, keeps a record of accounts with
duplicate caller-id phone numbers as another account on the system. The phone
number and account # are stored.
CCRECORDS.TXT - this file contains the billing information
necessary for you to charge caller credit cards if they make online purchases
of credits or days. Information is stored in comma delimited, "
" format as follows:
"Merchant ID", "Pending Authorization”,
“Credit Card Number”, “Expiration Date",
"Name", "Dollar Amount", "Billing Zip Code",
"Account# System-Name CallerID-PhoneNumber", "CallerID-Name"
Merchant ID - from Wizard "System-2" tab
"Pending Authorization" - these words appear exactly as shown
Credit Card Number - will be the credit card number entered. 13, 16 or xx
digits long
Expiration Date - 4 digit month-year
"Name" - appears exactly as shown. This
field is available for you to enter the customer's name. Although the
system does have a "name" field available in the “Subscriber
Screen”, it is not likely to be filled in before a person makes a
purchase, and therefore is not completed here. The caller will be asked
to speak and spell their name during the credit card purchase procedure. See
the "Voice" section below for information on where to retrieve the
recordings.
Dollar Amount - this will be the amount pre-configured for
the "package" the caller purchased.
Billing Zip Code - the caller will enter their 5 digit
billing zip code during the purchase.
Account# System-Name CallerID-PhoneNumber - the caller's
account # (4 digit), the name of your system (as configured in the "System
Details" tab of the Wizard, and the phone # that showed up on caller-id
(if available) will be stored as one field with spaces between each item.
This field is meant to be used in a "notes" field within your credit
card billing application.
CallerID-Name - the caller's name as it appeared on
caller-id (if available).
C:\SoftTouch\Tables
SoftTouch.mdb – database file for system.
menutree.txt – menu tree file for the system’s
“main menu”, “personal options menu”, as well as any
“Connection Point” applications.
C:\SoftTouch\Voice
In the root "voice" directory, you will find all
the system prompts. Most prompts are numbered beginning at 0 and going
through 300+. A few prompts are not numbered. See our web site’s
"Learning Center" for an up-to-date list of prompts.
Voice\ads - user ads are stored here by ad number.
Voice\private - voice mail is stored here by message number.
Voice\leave - feedback for the sysop is stored here by
message number.
Voice\postcards - postcards are stored here.
Voice\signups - each signup's voice recording for name and
date of birth are found here in the format "A####.wav". #### is
the caller's new account number.

a recording is made, it is stored here in the format "A####.wav". ####

was declined.
