What Women Look For in a Mate

It is great being a woman and life has treated me well so far. Although, I do wish I could be more assertive when it comes to dating. I am assertive in everyday life, but not when it comes to approaching a guy. I revert to the 1950s mindset that men should do all the work and I should just sit back and wait for the right guy to come along. Yet, that was not working for me and I realized I needed to take a more active role in my dating life to find that special person. Therefore, I decided to enter the dating scene using a phone dating system. Armed with my new sense of direction and a recently compiled list of the qualities I look for in a mate, I dialed the dating hotline phone number.

Making that First Call

I was nervous, but surprised to find out phone dating is a lot easier than simply walking up to a guy in a bar, or even a supermarket, and asking for his phone number. You do not have to be brave with phone dating and you can listen to different voice messages to “comparison shop”. You can even have the list of qualities written on a notepad nearby to keep you focused on what you are looking for. This will help when listening to voicemails or even chatting with a guy.

For example, I look for men who are intelligent, caring, fun loving, confident, funny and sensitive. However, I wondered how I would be able to tell over the phone if the guy had these qualities.

You Can “Hear” the Qualities

I was shocked when I began conversing with the first man I was interested in because it was so easy to tell over the phone what qualities he had. In fact, phone dating helped me realize that it is easier to discover male qualities over the phone than it is in person. And, after thinking about this for some time, I realized why that is. Through phone dating I was able to concentrate 100 percent on what the guy was saying.

I was not staring into his eyes and fantasizing about him or breathing in his cologne. Nor was I judging his clothes or the way he ate. Instead, I just listened. By doing so, I was able to determine that this guy did not possess all of the qualities that I look for in a mate. I realized that it might be easier to get to know someone over the phone because men are not trying too hard to impress anyone. Instead, they are being themselves, and through the course of a conversation their true qualities become obvious.
